Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Overview

TROLLCO INC is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of heavy machinery and equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and graders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment to ensure efficient and safe project completion.
  • Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and site markings to move soil according to defined specifications.
  • Utilize grade control devices to assist in reaching defined grade tolerances.
  • Conduct pre and post-equipment checks and report equipment issues to supervisors.
  • Perform basic repairs to equipment in the event of field mechanics being unavailable.
  • Coordinate machine functions with crew members in response to hand and audio signals.
  • Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks.
  • Work with the foreman, superintendent, project manager, and other team members to ensure job completion according to specifications.
  • Maintain assigned equipment and perform daily inspections to ensure compliance with operational and safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Certification or training in heavy equipment operation preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and blueprints.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on safety.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and strength to withstand long hours of sitting and operating heavy machinery.

Work Environment:

  • Operators are subject to continuous bouncing, shaking, and equipment vibration throughout their shift.
  • Ability to push/pull/manipulate hand tools up to 54 ft./lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull, open/close engine housing hatches up to 25-46 ft./Ibs.
  • Ability to lift/load/carry up to 55 lbs.
  • Ability to climb into and out of equipment.
  • Ability to reach above head and 6 inches with fine gross motor skill.
  • Ability to operate various-sized fire extinguishers.
  • Ability to dig/shovel various soils while performing daily duties.
  • Outside work exposed to variant weather conditions and muddy ground conditions.

Expected Pay Range: $25-$35 per hour
