Position Summary:

Service excellence is the cornerstone of our ethos at Vail Resorts, and our rental team members exemplify this commitment. Responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and store support, our Retail Management personnel are well-informed ambassadors of our brand and culture within our retail environments, ready to assist customers with inquiries and provide premium products.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee rental operations at the resort's premier rental and demo facility, situated within the resort's exclusive on-hill lodging:

  • Supervise and manage the rental fleet; including tuning and maintenance, inventory oversight, overdue rental recovery, pre-season and weekly ASTM testing, incident inspection and reporting, and end-of-season fleet retirement.
  • Coordinate daily equipment dispatch, evening rental returns, and overnight storage of rentals.
  • Monitor and fulfill advance rental reservations while assisting daily walk-in rental/demo customers.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to retail and rental customers regarding proper ski boot fitting and adjustments, as well as ski binding functionality, mounting, adjustments, and testing.
  • Complete all required training and certification from ski binding manufacturers, ensuring that all rental staff meet annual binding certification standards.
  • Assist in leading daily store operations, tracking sales performance and budgets, including scheduling and payroll; act as manager-on-duty in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Maintain daily records for performance, sales metrics, inventory control, and Rental KPIs (key performance indicators) such as rental cycle times, equipment upgrades, and damage waiver capture.
  • Support the hiring and training of employees in the Rental Operations System (RPOS), Point of Sale system operations (APTOS), online rental reservation system, rental/demo and retail product knowledge, guest service, sales techniques, and loss prevention policies and procedures.
  • Observe team performance and behavior to provide constructive feedback and direction, offering recognition or corrective action as necessary.
  • Stay informed on product knowledge and deliver outstanding customer service through prompt responses to customer inquiries, suggestions, complaints, and recognition.
  • Engage in leadership forums to provide feedback and input on store performance, training, and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required, including specialized areas such as retail merchandising and inventory management.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; Business area training or education preferred.
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in rentals; ski industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, multitasking and managing multiple customers.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must possess fluent communication skills in English.

The expected pay range is $25 - $27. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
