Job Title: Information Technology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Technology Specialist to join our team at the Department of Toxic Substances Control. As an IT Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing IT projects, defining project approaches, and leading interdisciplinary project management teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage IT projects using industry-standard methodologies, ensuring customer needs are met and project milestones are accomplished on-time and within budget.
  • Define and manage project approaches for specific projects or IT Project Concept Request initiatives, implementing best practices for Agile Project Management, Waterfall, or hybrid approaches.
  • Lead interdisciplinary project management teams in the development of project management plans, efficiently communicating project goals and expectations with stakeholders, project sponsors, and teams.
  • Produce periodic status reports to communicate project progress and issues with stakeholders, project sponsors, and teams.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Certification or exam eligibility for Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and situations, identify and solve problems, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience facilitating and leading groups in the discussion of complex problems and proposed solutions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently but within a collaborative team environment.
Working Conditions:

This position is located at our Headquarters office in Sacramento, CA.
