Accounting Associate Job Description

A government contract financing employer is seeking an experienced Accounting Associate to collaborate with their finance team in Huntington Beach. The ideal candidate will assist with various accounting functions, ensuring business transactions are accurately reported in accordance with GAAP.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles in financial reporting
  • Collaborate with service providers and team members to facilitate the month-end close
  • Support the annual audit process, including financial statement preparation and footnote disclosures
  • Research and analyze expense variances for company management
  • Supervise external tax advisors and manage tax returns, K-1s, and 1099s for a complex portfolio of entities
  • Maintain relationships with external service providers and contribute to Treasury Management
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, or equivalent experience; CPA and/or advanced degree (MBA) preferred
  • Deep understanding of tax and investment partnership accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Xero
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills
