Position Summary
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Process Improvement & Reliability Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes. This position is dedicated to achieving new performance benchmarks by increasing throughput, minimizing variation, and ensuring equipment reliability, all while optimizing costs.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute process improvement initiatives aligned with site objectives.
- Assist in the development and execution of capital projects by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting technical data.
- Act as the primary contact for troubleshooting process-related challenges on-site.
- Implement safety and process corrective actions in accordance with site priorities and the Management of Change (MOC) protocol.

- Gain a comprehensive understanding of all elements affecting process efficiency, product quality, and equipment reliability, including environmental considerations.
- Identify performance deficiencies and propose modifications to equipment and processes addressing mechanical and electrical challenges.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures in compliance with OEMS standards.
- Utilize project management expertise to oversee multiple improvement projects simultaneously.

- Employ critical thinking and focused improvement methodologies to analyze issues and devise effective solutions.
- Foster innovative problem-solving approaches to enhance quality and consistency.

- Collaborate closely with maintenance teams, Centers of Excellence (COE), and other plant departments to implement company-wide solutions.
- Contribute to the plant's safety initiatives.

Qualifications
- 4-7 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably within the wood or paper sectors.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage pressure, and meet deadlines; readiness to respond to after-hours inquiries regarding processes and equipment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LEAN manufacturing principles, FMEA, Process Hazards Analysis, and/or Process Control Systems.
- Background in analyzing, estimating, and planning capital expenditures.
- Familiarity with heavy industrial machinery.
- Experience in continuous flow processes or similar industries requiring outage planning.

Working Conditions
- Ability to work outdoors and in extreme temperatures.
- Willingness to operate in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial setting.
- Commitment to adhering to safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.

Physical Requirements
- Capability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for extended periods.
- Ability to work around moving machinery and equipment.
- Capacity to lift and pull weights up to 50 lbs.
