Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Library Services Associate at Kennesaw State University Libraries. This role is responsible for providing exceptional service to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring a positive and productive experience for all library users.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert-level customer service, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist library users in discovering and accessing library content and shared resources, ensuring seamless navigation and utilization of library services.
  • Determine user needs through thoughtful inquiry, identifying and addressing potential issues or concerns.
  • Solve complex problems, issues, resources, services, and/or collections to meet user information needs, referring appropriately to other library or university units.
  • Utilize and troubleshoot software and hardware necessary for library functions, including integrated library systems, Microsoft Office Suite, printers, and copiers.
  • Open and close library facilities, serving as a senior staff member during evenings and weekends.
  • Assist in the development of KSU Library policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with university and library goals.
  • Enforce applicable library and university policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and security of library visitors, identifying and reporting space, facility, and technology issues through appropriate channels.
  • Participate in a variety of library projects and initiatives, as assigned.
  • Gather and analyze statistics and data on activities, providing reports as needed.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external colleagues, stakeholders, and community members.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and supervision of student assistants working on scheduled shifts.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Two (2) years of related customer service or office support experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
  • Previous experience in an academic library, public library, or media center.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Able to engage in learning opportunities to gain a broader knowledge of the services of the organization.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting assigned deadlines.
