Library Assistant

Job Summary:

The Library Assistant will provide support to the Chattahoochee Technical College Library system, assisting students with research and reference services, processing loans, and maintaining the library environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide basic reference and research services to students, including bibliographic instruction.
• Answer telephones and greet visitors, providing information and assistance as needed.
• Process intralibrary and interlibrary loan requests.
• Conduct or assist with interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising work-study students.
• Share circulation desk duty and monitor student shelf-maintenance activities.
• Process overdue notices, place Banner holds, and find and enter book prices for billing.
• Assist with ordering, receiving, checking-in, and routing books, supplies, equipment, and furniture.
• Assist in the selection of materials to develop the college collection.
• Arrange displays and maintain display cases.
• Assist with the purchasing, inventory, and distribution of course materials to dual enrollment and dual achievement students.
• Communicate with other departments and dual enrollment and dual achievement students regarding course material distribution.
• Coordinate the maintenance of the library environment.
• Repair books.
• Oversee serial management, including receiving, shelf maintenance, renewals, requests, claims, and cancellations.
• Process incoming and outgoing mail.
• Assist in ordering supplies and equipment.

Requirements:

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the library field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

Benefits:
