Job Title: Library Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at Chattahoochee Technical College. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service, assist with daily library operations, and support the development of our library collection.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide reference and research services to students, including bibliographic instruction and assistance with research projects.
  • Answer telephones, greet visitors, and provide information and assistance as needed.
  • Process intralibrary and interlibrary loan requests, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of materials.
  • Conduct or assist with interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising work-study students.
  • Share circulation desk duty and monitor student shelf-maintenance activities, including shelving and shelf reading.
  • Process overdue notices, place Banner holds, and find and enter book prices for billing.
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, checking-in, and routing books, supplies, equipment, and furniture.
  • Assist in the selection of materials to develop the college collection.
  • Arrange displays and maintain display cases.
  • Assist with the purchasing, inventory, and distribution of course materials to dual enrollment and dual achievement students.
  • Communicate with other departments and dual enrollment and dual achievement students regarding the course material distribution process.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of the library environment.
  • Repair books.
  • Oversee serial management, including receiving, shelf maintenance, renewals, requests, claims, and cancellations.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Assist in ordering supplies and equipment.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the library field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
Benefits:

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary of $39,110.21 annually, as well as paid holidays, annual leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits Program.
