Job Summary:
The RN Manager of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the clinical care and day-to-day operations of the department. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nursing and leadership, with experience in managing a team of Registered Nurses, Special Procedures Technicians, and Cardiovascular Technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate the clinical care and day-to-day operations of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
- Ensure that policies and procedures reflect appropriate nursing scope of practice
- Interpret and apply hospital policies, including administrative, personnel, patient care, and department policies
- Serve as the subject matter expert for coding and abstracting and assure compliance
- Assess and assure the RN, CVT, RT, and clerical staffing is appropriate
- Ensure services and clinical guidelines meet regulatory/accrediting requirements
- Work in multidisciplinary teams to provide optimal integrated care for patient populations
- Coordinate management of data and results relevant to these programs (trends and equipment) with clinical laboratory, performance improvement, and others
- Develop, maintain relationships with Nursing Services and Ancillary Services specifically related to patients with specialties
- Perform performance evaluations for the staff
- Determine the need for and take disciplinary actions as needed for personnel supervised
- Hire, counsel, and mentor as needed
- Set goals for staff and guide the staff to achieve them
- Ensure policies and procedures related to the care of patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory are in place and reflect appropriate scope of practice
- Facilitate resolution of staff conflicts, problems, and promote teamwork
- Understand financial and budgeting issues that impact the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
- Assess educational needs of Staff RN's and technical staff
- Work with resources to meet these needs
- Schedule or oversee patient scheduling, in the most effective manner for the safe efficient provision of patient care and effective department patient/procedure flow
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with Cardiologists and physicians utilizing cardiac services
- Ensure equipment functions with safe standards of operation according to state and regulatory standards as appropriate
- Oversee supply acquisition, utilization, and management, including inventory management
Requirements:
- BSN or MSN Nursing; A Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration may be substituted for a Master's Degree in Nursing
- Three years of recent clinical experience, which includes one year in the area of specialization
- Registered Nurse License Certification in area of specialty within one year of hire
