Position Overview: As the Environmental Claims Manager for North America Specialty (NAS), you will play a pivotal role within the NAS Claims and Environmental Underwriting Leadership Teams. You will oversee all Environmental Claim related matters and will be responsible for the analysis, development, and execution of claim strategies aimed at achieving optimal claim outcomes that align with overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and inspire the Environmental and NAS Claims organization.
- Foster a high-performing culture that excels in communication and collaboration.
- Ensure adherence to claim best practices to achieve optimal outcomes and deliver an exceptional customer experience, as reflected in top-tier customer and broker Net Promoter Scores.
- Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and legal cross-functional internal stakeholders to facilitate knowledge sharing on emerging risks, litigation environments, and loss development.
- Co-present with underwriting and client executives during customer prospect and broker stewardship meetings on the Liberty Environmental Claims value proposition.
- Strengthen relationships with our broker claim advocates.
- Enhance, develop, and implement Environmental claim metrics and KPIs processes.
- Ensure that adequate claim reserves are established and coverage letters are issued promptly.
- Guarantee that all valid claims are processed and paid accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manage claim staffing and expenses within the annual operating budget.
- Implement cost containment strategies concerning allocated and unallocated expenses.
- Utilize resources, technology, and processes to drive innovation within the claims organization.
- Ensure sound litigation management practices through various resolution mechanisms, including mediations, arbitrations, and trials as necessary.
- Provide regular updates and thought leadership pieces on emerging Environmental Risks and claim trends to external stakeholders, including customers, brokers, and reinsurers.
- Partner with internal Liberty Quality and Compliance units to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor preferred; other advanced degrees are a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Outlook, along with internet proficiency and knowledge of claims management tools. A minimum of 15 years of claims experience with a comprehensive understanding of Management & Professional Liability, including executive liability, Cyber, Lawyers, Accountants, and Non-Profit sectors. Background in large loss management, mediation, and settlement negotiations is essential.
