Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at Christus Health. As a Licensed Vocational Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to clinic patients, working collaboratively with providers to ensure quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general nursing care to patients, administering treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Assist with the preparation of equipment and aid providers during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
  • Observe, record, and report patients' condition and reaction to drugs or treatments to providers.
  • Oversee appointment bookings and ensure preferences are given to patients in emergency situations, maintaining a timely flow of patients.
  • Greets patients, obtains well-documented history and vitals, prepares patients for physical exam, and instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Perform various tasks, including vital sign collection, initial patient assessment, coordination of patient transfer, and administration of medications, under the supervision of a licensed practitioner.
  • Respond to incoming telephone calls, call in refills and prescriptions to pharmacy, and instruct patients and/or family regarding medication and treatment.
  • Formulate and update patient care plans, order and prepare patient charts, post test results, and review patient tests and examination results with providers.
  • Maintain patient files, records, and other information in a professional manner, following policies and procedures regarding documentation.
  • Ensure preparation of exam rooms, including re-stocking of treatment areas.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional licensure and affiliations.
  • Follow CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to HIPAA and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Use oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission.
  • Maintain established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
  • Implement job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code of Ethics and supportive of CHRISTUS Health's cultural diversity objectives.
  • Support and adhere to CHRISTUS Health Service Guarantee.

Requirements:

Education/Skills:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing.

Experience:

  • Previous medical office experience preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • Valid state license to practice nursing.
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
