We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with providers to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide professional nursing care to patients, including administering treatments and medications as prescribed.
- Assist with the preparation of equipment and aid providers during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Observe, record, and report patients' condition and reaction to drugs or treatments to providers.
- Oversee appointment bookings and ensure timely flow of patients.
- Greets patients, obtains well-documented history and vitals, and prepares patients for physical exam.
- May perform various tasks, including vital sign collection, initial patient assessment, and coordination of patient transfer to hospital or discharge.
- Respond to incoming telephone calls, call in refills and prescriptions to pharmacy, and instruct patients on medication and treatment.
- Formulate and update patient care plans, order and prepare patient charts, and post test results.
- Maintain patient files, records, and other information in a professional manner.
- Ensure preparation of exam rooms, including restocking of treatment areas.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional licensure and affiliations.
- Follow CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to HIPAA and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Use effective communication skills to convey ideas in a clear, positive manner.
- Maintain established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
Requirements:
Education/Skills
- Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing.
Experience
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- Valid state license to practice nursing.
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
