Summary:
The Pediatric Nursing Specialist is responsible for delivering nursing care and providing guidance on clinical matters, collaborating closely with physicians at the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitates the effective operation of the clinical team while ensuring high-quality care and exceptional service for pediatric patients through a collaborative approach.

Mentors and precepts new nursing staff, fostering their professional development.

3. Conducts patient assessments as necessary.

Contributes to the educational development of all clinical staff regarding health-related topics.

5.

Evaluates clinical competency and participates in performance assessments for clinical staff at designated intervals.

6.

Acts as an advocate for children's health maintenance, engaging with patients and their families to promote a positive public image.

7.

Exhibits the knowledge and skills essential for addressing the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of patients across all age groups.

8.

Provides consultations and requests additional consults as necessary, in accordance with institutional guidelines.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
1. Education:
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. Candidates without a BSN must obtain the degree within five years of hire.
2.

Current certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association is mandatory.

3.

A valid, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio is required, which must be a Multistate License (MSL).

An MSL must be obtained within 90 days for departments providing telenursing services.

4. Years of Relevant Experience:
Minimum of two years of experience is preferred.
