Director of Nursing Services

Sunrise Senior Living is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Nursing Services to lead our skilled nursing operations. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and services to our residents while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage the nursing team to deliver high-quality care and services
- Develop and implement effective systems to ensure consistent delivery of quality care
- Assess and monitor clinical settings to ensure safe and effective care
- Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams and promote a team approach in care delivery
- Ensure proper utilization of the Resident Care Plan and follow-through on care documentation
- Participate in community awareness activities and develop relationships with external providers
- Assist in counseling residents, families, or responsible parties during difficult transitional care periods
- Strive for excellent quality care and service delivery as measured in the Quality Services Review (QSR) process
- Research, document, and review incidents of abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of funds
- Ensure Quality Improvement meetings are occurring and may be designated as the Chairperson of the meetings
- Regularly monitor resident medication and treatment profiles to ensure accurate administration and documentation
- Review and develop plans of correction for concerns and issues identified by pharmacy consultants
- Act as liaison with pharmacy to ensure effective services for residents
- Ensure pharmacy follows state regulations for labeling, distribution, and identification of medications
- Develop a thorough working knowledge of current and evolving federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures for resident care and services
- Ensure community follows all state regulations as it pertains to resident care and services
- Complete and submit all monthly and quarterly reports in a timely manner
- Follow through on mock survey process
- Assist in the presentation and value of Sunrise's products and services for residents, families, and team members
- Assist the executive director in completing the annual community budget
- Understand and manage the department budget to include labor and other expenses and its impact on the community's bottom line
- Reviews monthly financial statements and implements plans of action around deficiencies
- Process and submit monthly expenses and budget data timely per Sunrise policies and internal business controls
- Coordinates with the community team to achieve maximum staff economies and cross-training when applicable
- Understand the internal cost associated with all Sunrise resident care programs
- Graduate of approved college/school of nursing
- Maintains a current state license as a Registered Nurse per state regulations
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a nurse management position within a skilled nursing environment
- Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices, techniques, methods as applied to skilled nursing care
- Demonstration of knowledge in federal and state long-term care regulations
- Proficiency in Medicare, Minimum Data Set (MDS)/Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI), Care Plan process
- Ability to handle multiple priorities
- Ability to delegate assignments to the appropriate individuals based on their skills, roles, and interests
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication and the ability to facilitate small group presentations
- Competent in organizational, time management skills
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Demonstration of proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel), and Sunrise applications with the ability to learn new applications
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours, available for our customers at peak service delivery days and times
