Position Overview
The Patient Care Support Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating patient service operations. This position collaborates with various departments to ensure the accurate documentation of patient information. Key responsibilities include:
- Prioritizing patient needs and treating each individual with respect and fairness.
- Efficiently managing patient check-ins and updating appointment statuses.
- Assisting patients with necessary pre-appointment documentation, including health history and insurance verification.
- Ensuring the accurate scanning and indexing of patient records and identification.
- Reviewing patient alert notes within the electronic medical record system.
- Collecting applicable fees prior to appointments and explaining sliding fee scale discounts.
- Conducting end-of-day procedures, including report generation and cash balancing.
- Acting as a patient advocate by providing resources to address identified barriers.
- Collecting social determinants of health data using appropriate tools.
- Serving as a backup for medical scheduling as needed.
- Engaging in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Staying updated with evolving technologies and software.
- Upholding and promoting company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Successful candidates should possess a high school diploma or GED, with relevant experience or training preferred. A pre-employment drug test and background check will be required.
