What You'll Do: As a Senior Project Engineer, you will act as the chief engineer on the project. You will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to oversee all construction processes to achieve the project's objectives. Responsibilities will typically encompass, but are not limited to, scheduling, procurement, submittal reviews, preplanning, safety management, production oversight, assisting in project management, and project closure.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures the implementation of Bowen's SQP process
  • Understands and mentors/supports Field Engineer and Project Engineer responsibilities
  • Develops preplanning agendas and facilitates project preplanning activities
  • Conducts estimating turnover meetings and activities, including validation of bid profit
  • Determines General Conditions requirements per contract and project team needs
  • Conducts Safety and Quality preplanning sessions with respective corporate departments
  • Ensures high-risk project activities are preplanned to meet Bowen and Owner requirements
  • Develops the construction schedule using a CPM program, including engineering, procurement, and construction activities, utilizing manpower/equipment-loaded activities for tracking performance curves
  • Prepares detailed project schedule of values and preliminary cash flow schedules
  • Assists in the procurement of technical process-driven equipment and Design Assistance subcontractor procurement
  • Determines appropriate heavy equipment and sizing for self-perform capabilities
  • Develops and manages engineered lift plans and ensures compliance with Owner-driven critical lift requirements
  • Recognizes change conditions concerning the contract and provides legal notifications to appropriate parties including Owner/Engineers and Subcontractors/Vendors
  • Assists in change order management including determining proposed change order costs, submission of change requests, and processing of approved owner change orders
  • Understanding of contract management as it pertains to Bowen subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Manages accounts payable processes including invoice approvals
  • Monitors accounts receivable and cash flow position of the project
  • Ensures all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawings, and specifications;
  • Manages project Progress Meetings and maintains Action Item Lists
Must-haves in a Candidate:
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent technical training and related experience
  • 5+ years of construction management experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • In-depth understanding of cost analysis
Nice to Haves in a Candidate:
  • Experience working with self-perform construction operations
  • Experience with advanced scheduling techniques
  • Knowledge of value engineering principles
  • Familiarity with construction safety standards and procedures
