Job Summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality support to patients and families, ensuring a positive and compassionate experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, including cleaning patient rooms, operating clinical equipment, and assisting with patient procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Maintain hospital and unit-specific competencies, adhering to Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
  • Record patient intake and output, and assist with patient care according to individual needs.
  • Transport patients and patient specimens throughout the hospital as needed, contributing to the completion of patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification.
  • One year of direct patient care experience, or successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license through the State of Georgia, or current enrollment in a nursing program with completion of 2 clinical rotations.
Physical and Environmental Demands

The Patient Care Specialist will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, requiring the ability to lift 75lbs, carry objects up to 35lbs, and stand/walk for extended periods. The role may also involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, chemicals, and other environmental hazards.
