Job Summary

Helix Community Schools is seeking a highly skilled Literacy Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring students receive high-quality literacy instruction and will lead the development and improvement of literacy programs in our school buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Coordinate and implement high-quality reading curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
  • Professional Development: Facilitate training and coaching for teachers to improve their literacy instruction skills.
  • Observation and Feedback: Observe teachers, provide constructive feedback, and identify areas for improvement in core ELA instruction.
  • Intervention Support: Monitor interventions conducted by classroom teachers and provide support to ensure students receive targeted support.
  • Model Lessons: Model exemplar lessons to demonstrate effective literacy instruction techniques.
  • Curriculum Support: Support teachers with lesson preparation using high-quality curriculum and provide guidance on effective instructional strategies.
  • Student Interactions: Model and support high-quality interactions with students to promote a love of reading and improve literacy skills.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data, identify trends, and support teachers to adjust instruction based on data-driven insights.
  • Parent Communication: Support teachers with effective parent communication and family involvement to promote a collaborative approach to literacy instruction.
  • Leadership Collaboration: Communicate with the leadership team on school-wide literacy progress and provide recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 effective years of experience as a certified ELA teacher.
  • Results-Oriented: Proven results when working with struggling readers and a strong track record of improving literacy outcomes.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of how children learn to read and experience working with high-quality reading curriculum.
