Job Overview

The Construction Equipment Specialist is responsible for following the directives of the Site Foreman while proficiently operating various machinery on construction sites. This role requires a strong sense of leadership, especially when guiding a crew to ensure tasks are completed effectively. The primary objective of a Construction Equipment Specialist is to refine their skills and gain insights from the Site Foreman regarding the operational processes and expectations at the job site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery on construction sites.
  • Collaborate closely with the foreman to meet project and job requirements.
  • Support the successful execution of construction and pre-engineered plans.
  • Skillfully operate heavy equipment such as earthmovers, bulldozers, front-end loaders, and related machinery.
  • Ensure the equipment is operated at the correct angles and directions to avoid accidents and property damage.
  • Manage machinery in a safe and secure manner.
  • Conduct regular safety checks and maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Notify management or repair personnel regarding significant repairs or maintenance needs.
  • Perform tasks such as road work, excavation, and lifting operations.
  • Respond to signals and instructions from other operators and work collaboratively with them.
  • Maintain coordination with the road and transport systems to minimize disruptions during operations.
  • Operate equipment both manually and through electronic or technical methods.
  • Adhere to safety practices, procedures, and relevant traffic laws.
  • Report directly to the Field Supervisor.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
  • Possess a general understanding of construction plans.
  • Carry out daily maintenance tasks for equipment (e.g., cleaning the cab, changing filters, greasing machinery).
  • Comply with all contractual obligations set forth by Wofford Earthworks, LLC.
  • Compile a Daily Report for the Project Coordinator, detailing activities and including photographs from each workday.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment as required.
