Role Summary
The Heavy Equipment Technician is tasked with the upkeep and repair of large machinery and vehicles. This role is integral to the Construction team and collaborates closely with other departmental personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and repairs on company vehicles, including service trucks and compressors.
- Execute minor maintenance tasks such as wiring, oil changes, and brake repairs.
- Perform operational checks and road tests on vehicles and equipment to verify the quality of repairs.
- Order necessary parts, materials, and supplies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to maintenance activities.
- Oversee prioritized projects and tasks to ensure timely completion.
- Keep tools, supplies, and work areas organized, clean, and safe.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Understanding of vehicle and equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to perform tune-ups, hydraulic brake repairs, and basic electrical work.
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines and drivetrain systems.
- Proficiency in using cutting torches and basic welding techniques.
- Experience with minor repairs on heavy machinery.
Preferred:
- At least one year of relevant experience.
- Certification as a DOT Flagger.
- Possession of a CDL Class A license.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This position is primarily field-based and requires physical stamina. The role involves frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting, often in challenging weather conditions.
The physical demands outlined are representative of those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of this role. Candidates should be capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, possess clear vision at various distances, and demonstrate precise hand-eye coordination.
