Job Summary

The Building Inspector - Code Enforcement Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable building codes and regulations in Forsyth County, GA. This role involves conducting site inspections of residential and commercial buildings to verify structural integrity, safety, and compliance with codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site inspections of residential and commercial buildings to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
  • Verify structural integrity, safety, and compliance with codes and regulations
  • Issue Certificates of Occupancy or Certificates of Completion for approved construction work
  • Identify code violations, deficiencies, and hazardous conditions, and recommend corrective actions
  • Communicate with property owners, contractors, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure compliance
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of inspection activities
  • Operate a variety of equipment and tools associated with work activities
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED, supplemented by vocational/technical training in general building construction, construction trades, and code enforcement/interpretation
  • Three years previous experience and/or training that includes general building construction, construction trades, code enforcement/interpretation, and building inspection specialties
  • Must obtain ICC Residential Combination Inspector certification or ICC Commercial Combination Inspector certification within 24 months of hire
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license
