Position Summary
The Physician will deliver high-quality, efficient, patient-centered, and cost-effective care to assigned patients in various settings, including ambulatory and acute care environments. A full-time commitment is defined as a minimum of forty (40) hours of direct patient care or administrative duties each week, typically across five (5) workdays. On-call responsibilities will be shared equitably among physicians based on their specialty.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all patient services in accordance with established standards.
- Support the goals and objectives of the medical center.
- Engage in quality assurance initiatives as assigned.
- Oversee the administrative tasks of non-physician staff collaborating with the Physician.
- Ensure adherence to all relevant policies and procedures, including those related to personnel, payroll, training, and billing.
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and CLIA standards.
- Contribute to budget development and monitor expenses for ongoing reconciliation.
- Exhibit professionalism and diplomacy in all interactions.
- Foster positive patient relations and uphold a professional image.
- Participate in community outreach and practice development activities to enhance visibility.
- Work collaboratively with administration to adapt practice styles and scheduling to optimize productivity and patient satisfaction.
- Engage in disease management programs to enhance care effectiveness and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Current medical license to practice in the State of Maryland is required.
- Board Certification in the relevant specialty is mandatory.
- Active DEA or equivalent certification for controlled substances is required.
- Clinical privileges at a UMMS affiliated facility are preferred.
- Compliance with minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification is necessary.
- Demonstrated qualifications and experience relevant to the responsibilities of this position.
Skills and Competencies
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential for effective interaction with hospital staff, patients, and visitors.
