Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plumbing Designer/Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing plumbing systems that are efficient, sustainable, and compliant with local codes and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop plumbing systems for various project types, including multifamily, affordable housing, commercial office, and hospitality projects.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers and architects to ensure seamless integration of plumbing systems with other building systems.
  • Develop project specifications and perform site evaluations to ensure compliance with local codes and regulations.
  • Attend meetings with clients and project teams to discuss project progress and address any concerns.
  • Develop contract drawings from schematics through construction documents.
  • Establish design standards and criteria for projects, preparing calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Perform fire suppression system selection, preparing preliminary designs, and creating performance specifications.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, evolving building codes, and advancements in the industry to enhance technical quality.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce integrated project documents, ensuring cohesive design strategies and solutions.
  • Engage in the development of tools and templates to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Contribute to the growth and management of the plumbing department.
  • Manage projects efficiently, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and adherence to quality control processes.
Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in plumbing engineering within the construction industry.
  • Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.
  • 2-5 years' experience modeling plumbing systems and compiling construction documents in Revit.
  • Experience with UPC Appendix M Peak Water Demand Calculations.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience with Seattle and WA building codes.
  • Must be located within the Seattle area to support in-person meetings as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field of study, or equivalent work experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Washington State and Seattle codes, sustainable design, and heat pump water heating system design.
  • Experience designing and coordinating heat pump water heating systems.
  • Experience designing and coordinating rainwater/greywater harvesting systems.
  • CPD or CPDT is preferred.
  • PE license is preferred.
  • LEED AP is preferred.
