Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Apprentice to join our team at Manor Tool in Schiller Park, IL.

The successful candidate will assist the Maintenance Manager in maintaining the facility, performing preventive maintenance repairs, and improving metal fabrication processes.

As an apprentice, you will have the opportunity to learn from a seasoned industry expert with over 40 years of experience.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in safety, quality, and housekeeping programs.
  • Maintain performance standards, quality standards, and good attendance record.
  • Perform cleanup duties and communicate problems with the supervisor.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a strong sense of urgency to meet established goals.
  • Identify opportunities to increase personal skill level and departmental process efficiency.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer proficiency required.
  • Operation of machine tools and powered hand tools.
  • Ability to pass company ISO, English, Safety, and Math tests.
  • Must be a US citizen or have the right to work in the US.
  • Must be drug and alcohol-free.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must read, write, and speak English.
  • Must understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to meet targets.
  • Must perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Must have basic knowledge of punch presses, construction, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Must read and understand schematics.
  • Must be able to think and work under pressure.
Minimum Physical Requirements
  • Stamina to work all assigned hours.
  • 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
  • Ability to use hands 100% of the workday.
  • Ability to stand and or walk 100% of the workday.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, or twist 50% of the workday.
  • Ability to exert physical force to push, pull, lift, or carry 50 pounds frequently.
