Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Service Representative. As a key member of our Front End team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service to customers, achieving Food Lion customer service standards.
  • Assist customers with their shopping needs, answering questions and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Unload customers' groceries from carts to belts, ensuring efficient and accurate checkout processes.
  • Check the bottom of every cart and under all baby seats for items before completing an order.
  • Follow correct bagging procedures, using the correct type of bags for each item.
  • Scan customers' orders and handle payment transactions, adhering to standard practice.
  • Maintain accurate cash control, following procedures for handling cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, partner cards, food stamps, and WIC vouchers.
  • Identify customers needing assistance and offer to take their order to their car, including Food Lion To-Go orders.
  • Maintain alertness and call for assistance when needed to service customers, adhering to service standards.
  • Check prices quickly and accurately, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the checkout process.
  • Be courteous and helpful to other associates, maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
  • Wear the Food Lion uniform with apron, complete with name badge, when on duty, and maintain a neat and clean appearance, adhering to the Food Lion dress code.
  • Retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot and cart corrals, utilizing the tether strap, and ensure the MVP savings center KIOSK is filled with paper and properly working.
  • Observe and correct all unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents, notifying QA of any cleaning issues or maintenance required on the front end.
  • Successfully complete computer-based training (CBT) and training aid courses, and perform tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
  • Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
