The Associate Vice President of Human Resources will lead HR programs and policies for the organization's multiple campus locations. This role oversees HR services, policies, and programs affecting university-wide initiatives and contributes to the development of broader policies.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic HR policies and goals.
- Lead HR programs: recruitment, staffing, compensation, benefits, employee well-being, performance management, training, payroll, and labor relations.
- Develop and implement self-service HR capabilities.
- Create a 3-5 year strategic HR plan.
- Assess and improve HR functions in collaboration with the Office of Accreditation and Assessment.
- Advise on HR strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
- Manage HR staff, performance standards, and personnel actions.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, labor union guidelines, and maintain relations with regulatory bodies.
- Oversee the HR budget, compensation programs, and negotiation with local unions.
- Conduct conflict mediation workshops and foster a learning environment through training.
- Prepare reports and participate in policy development and planning.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and external agencies.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources is required. Master's degree in Human Resources, Management, Business, or a related field and at least ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS software (preferably Workday) and Microsoft Office Suite.
