Job Summary

The Associate Vice President of Human Resources will lead HR programs and policies for the organization's multiple campus locations. This role oversees HR services, policies, and programs affecting university-wide initiatives and contributes to the development of broader policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic HR policies and goals.
  • Lead HR programs: recruitment, staffing, compensation, benefits, employee well-being, performance management, training, payroll, and labor relations.
  • Develop and implement self-service HR capabilities.
  • Create a 3-5 year strategic HR plan.
  • Assess and improve HR functions in collaboration with the Office of Accreditation and Assessment.
  • Advise on HR strategies to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Manage HR staff, performance standards, and personnel actions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, labor union guidelines, and maintain relations with regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee the HR budget, compensation programs, and negotiation with local unions.
  • Conduct conflict mediation workshops and foster a learning environment through training.
  • Prepare reports and participate in policy development and planning.
  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and external agencies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources is required. Master's degree in Human Resources, Management, Business, or a related field and at least ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS software (preferably Workday) and Microsoft Office Suite.
