Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatrician to join our team at Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center. As a Pediatrician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to our patients, working collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to remove barriers to accessing healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform health assessments, including thorough histories and physical examinations, ordering or performing diagnostic tests, and prescribing medications as needed.
  • Promote and maintain periodic health assessments and preventive screening, assessment, and guidance on health hazards, good family health habits, and family planning.
  • Manage common acute and chronic illnesses, and initiate life-saving procedures in emergencies.
  • Provide clinical oversight of NP/PA trainees, NP residents, and/or new providers, directing medical assistants, lab personnel, and other non-professional medical staff as appropriate.
  • From time to time, provide in-service training for staff in selected topics within the scope of practice of medicine as appropriate, and/or as deemed necessary by the CMO or his/her designee.
  • Perform all duties for successful electronic health records maintenance, including completion of medical records and documentation management of Inbox and results, coding, and signing off charts within the designated time set by the organization.
  • Assist in internal quality control audits, perform and maintain the standards of quality of care based on specialty and organizational standards.
  • Discuss or refer as needed, complex and high-priority patient cases.
  • Perform all duties and services in full compliance with the organization's Service Excellence Standards, adhering to all canons of ethics, including the organization's code of conduct for clinical providers.
  • Demonstrate patterns of continued learning to ensure growth as a practitioner.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences, and participate on task forces or committees, as necessary and/or required by TVHC, Inc.
  • Be willing to travel to and from service sites as needed by the CMO or designee.
  • Provide additional assistance within and outside of the clinical arena, as requested and/or as appropriate, to ensure the ongoing success of the organization.
  • Work as a member of the healthcare team and assist in education of patients and the community in preventive health care and health maintenance concepts.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the CMO.

Requirements:

  • Board Certified in a designated specialty field of practice is required.
  • Must be in possession of a current medical license to practice in the State of California, including DEA license, and CPR.
  • Previous experience providing medical care within a community health setting is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and allied services commensurate with his/her training.
  • Demonstrated ability to build the trust and respect of patients, staff, colleagues, external contacts, and other organizational members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Understands and is committed to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed TVHC's Service Excellence Standards.
  • Must be willing and able to work periodic evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Must have the ability to travel to other TVHC sites or locations to perform duties or attend meetings as needed.
  • Bilingual, especially Spanish, is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required, including creativity, resourcefulness, timeliness, and technical knowledge related to analyzing and resolving medical problems.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse patient and employee populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technology and to willingness to develop and adapt to the evolving technological requirements of modern medical health center practices required.
