Certified Medication Aide Job Description

Cedarhurst Senior Living is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Medication Aide to join our team at our Canton community. As a Certified Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in promoting the delivery of resident care and ensuring the well-being of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct resident care services, including medication distribution and administration.
  • Follow individualized care plans for each resident, ensuring their physical, personal, and emotional needs are met.
  • Perform resident evaluations and report any changes in condition to the Director of Nursing and Executive Director.
  • Assist with completing and maintaining current individualized care plans for each resident.
  • Provide timely interventions and share information with care staff and family as instructed.
  • Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars as assigned.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, showering, oral care, toileting, dressing, and transfers.
  • Participate in the oversight and management of medication delivery systems, including timely order entry, receipt, and tracking.
  • Provide glucose monitoring and administration of insulin (for CMTs and insulin-certified CMAs/L1MA only).
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED and current state certification for the corresponding role.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
  • At least one year of related work experience in senior care, preferably in Assisted Living, and a general knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding senior living care.
  • Ability to work well with others, take direction from management, and take initiative to ensure resident needs are met.
  • Must remain flexible and be able to work weekends as necessary.
