Job Overview

Position: Part-Time Preschool Bus Operator
Location: Baraboo, WI

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a school bus for preschool children, ensuring safe transportation to and from educational facilities.
  • Work part-time hours, Monday through Friday, during the academic year.
  • Drive children aged 3 to 5 years, adhering to a strict schedule for morning pickups and afternoon drop-offs.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and comply with all safety regulations and traffic laws.
  • Complete necessary training to obtain a School Bus Driver's License (CDL) within 90 days of employment.
Additional Information
  • Work hours align with school schedules, with additional time allocated for training and staff meetings as needed.
  • Routes are subject to change based on enrollment and may take approximately 30 minutes.
  • Utilize a 29-passenger bus, accompanied by an aide for every route.
  • Eligible for paid time off, including holidays and sick leave, along with participation in a retirement program.
  • Compensation: $17.47 per hour, with potential monthly incentives available through June 2025.
Essential Duties
  • Ensure student safety during boarding and disembarking from the bus.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to confirm operational safety.
  • Manage student behavior during transit to maintain a secure environment.
  • Report any vehicle issues or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Document operational details, including passenger counts and mileage.
Qualifications
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving history.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Experience in driving passenger vehicles preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with students and staff effectively.
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with GPS and route planning tools.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and safety equipment.
  • Experience with first-aid procedures.
