About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Tech Lab Technologist to join our team at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital - Baraboo. As a key member of our Radiology and Lab department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department. You will perform standard laboratory tasks according to procedures, including waived testing and phlebotomy when needed. This position only performs plain films and fluoro.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Explains procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provides appropriate educational material.
  • Transports patients to and from clinical areas and verifies patient identity according to policies and procedures.
  • Assists technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams by positioning them for the procedure.
  • Follows radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent patient exposure to unnecessary radiation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observes patients during procedures and reports abnormal activity.
  • Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS.
  • Ensures equipment is properly functioning and reports potential problems or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, laboratory work areas, and storage areas.
  • May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
  • Collects, labels, processes, and preserves blood, urine, and other specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
  • Enters, accesses, and executes lab orders in the appropriate laboratory and electronic medical record system.
  • May perform phlebotomy and/or waived testing.
  • Performs administrative and clerical duties, including admission activities, insurance verification, order entry processing, and medical record processing.
Requirements
  • Completion of a radiology certification program.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Rare kneeling and sitting.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Radiographer, Licensed - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
  • ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
