About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Surgical Assistant to join our team at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons with tasks such as selecting equipment, setting up tables, and positioning equipment.
  • Provide retraction for visualization of the surgical site, cauterization of bleeding vessels, suturing and closure of incisions, instillation of medications, and application of surgical dressings, splints, and casts.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and use effective interdisciplinary communication to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Surgical Assistant Program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) or Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) issued by the National Commission for Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
  • Virginia Surgical Assistant License/Registration.
