Job Summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking highly skilled and experienced medical professionals to join our team as Intensive Care and Resuscitation Medical Officers. As a key member of our emergency response and ICU care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading critical situations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform complete physical examinations to establish a record of the patient's current health status and develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Lead in critical situations, including codes, rapid responses, and brain attacks, as the sole provider in the hospital.
  • Provide information and answer routine questions of patients and families regarding their disease, including preventive health maintenance topics.
  • Educate patients regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects, and hazards.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
  • Refers patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment.
  • May participate in medical team rounds and serve as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited MSN/ACNP/AG-ACNP training program (APRN) or A.R.C.-approved Physician Assistant Program (PA).
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in applicable state (APRN) or certification as a Physician Assistant through the NCCPA (PA).
  • Prescriptive authority or eligible to apply for licensure to prescribe from the State Medical Board within the first 6 months of hiring.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Two years clinical advanced practice nursing experience (APRN) or relative clinical experience (PA) preferred.

  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work autonomously.
Physical Requirements
  • Typical physical demands include the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to perform physical examinations.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
