Job Summary

The Patient Transporter plays a vital role in the daily operation of the patient transport department, assisting the Manager of Patient Transportation in ensuring timely service to customers. This position requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to work independently with little supervision, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Patient Transporters in achieving desired results
  • Train Patient Transporters in proper procedures related to job tasks
  • Communicate with the dispatch desk to facilitate patient transports
  • Ensure that nursing personnel are notified when a patient leaves and returns to the patient care unit
  • Complete patient transport records and logs at nursing units and ancillary departments
  • Dispatch personnel to transport patients to and from various areas of the hospital
  • Attend in-service training sessions designated by the facility and/or department
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • No experience required, with on-the-job training provided
  • No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required
  • Customer service experience and 1 year of similar work experience preferred
Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with a variety of departments and personnel. The Patient Transporter must be able to establish priorities, work independently, and maintain a high level of customer service.
