Internship Role: Mechanical Engineering Internship

Location: Various Kimberly-Clark facilities

Internship Duration: Summer 2025

Internship Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineering intern, you will engage in various phases of project development, including problem analysis, design, installation, and initiation. This role provides a unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting, working collaboratively with project teams on documentation and implementation of ongoing projects. Interns will gain a comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles essential for supporting high-speed automated manufacturing processes across different sectors.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing detailed designs and solutions for engineering challenges.
  • Enhancing technical knowledge and skills related to engineering tasks.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment while adhering to security protocols.
  • Contributing to the development of innovative solutions and alternatives for assigned projects.
  • Fostering a respectful and collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrating strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Utilizing basic statistical methods and computer applications effectively.

Required Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in general machine design principles.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to assimilate and interpret technical information.
  • Experience with routine drafting and design processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering work systems, including CAD software.
  • Understanding of design communication standards.
  • Practical field experience in mechanical systems.
  • Integration of various components and materials.
  • Appreciation for maintenance and operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with machine, electrical, and process systems.
  • Awareness of corporate policies and quality standards.
  • Understanding of the roles of different functions within Kimberly-Clark.
  • Adherence to Kimberly-Clark design standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 and completion of at least 1.5 years of college coursework.
  • Candidates should present an unofficial transcript during the interview process.
  • Previous co-op experience is advantageous.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
  • Co-op/intern positions are not eligible for sponsorship; candidates must be eligible for employment without Kimberly-Clark's sponsorship now or in the future.
