Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse III to join our team at the Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center. As a Registered Nurse III, you will provide nursing care for patients with psychiatric conditions, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care for patients with psychiatric conditions, following professional, hospital, and departmental standards.
  • Identify and address patient needs through nursing assessments and interventions.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibility as needed, providing critical thinking, prioritization, and delegation of patient care needs.
  • Supervise employees of a lesser grade, assigning tasks based on individual competencies and evaluating performance.
  • Perform medication administration, communicate with physicians, and maintain accurate records.
  • Work with patients to provide instruction and facilitate independent management of personal, hygiene, and health needs.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge patients, coordinating healthcare services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Identify, evaluate, and respond to changes in patient conditions, documenting and reporting such changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients through individual counseling and group work, maintaining a therapeutic milieu.
  • Maintain awareness of DMH regulations and hospital policy and procedure regarding the use of seclusion and restraint, ensuring patient dignity and human rights.
  • Maintain professional proficiencies through in-service trainings and educational programs, fostering growth and development.
Requirements
  • At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic, or medical facility.
  • Six months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity.
  • Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
  • Ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and interact with people under physical and/or emotional stress.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual or multilingual fluency.
Work Schedule

This is a part-time position, working 24 hours per week on the evening shift (2:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.). Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime.
