We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse III to join our team at the Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of exceptional healthcare services.
Job Summary:The Registered Nurse III will be responsible for providing nursing care to patients in a psychiatric setting, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and coordinated care. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide high-quality patient care, adhering to professional, hospital, departmental, and certification standards.
- Conduct nursing assessments, develop nursing interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes.
- Assume charge nurse responsibility on an as-needed basis, providing critical thinking, prioritization, and delegation of patient care needs.
- Supervise employees of a lesser grade, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and making recommendations concerning performance.
- Perform duties of medication nurse, administering medication, communicating with physicians, transcribing orders, maintaining controlled count, and documenting.
- Work with patients to provide instruction and facilitate the independent management of their personal, hygiene, and health needs.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge patients, coordinating healthcare services to ensure continuity of care.
- Identify, evaluate, and respond to changes in patient conditions, documenting and reporting such changes to appropriate personnel.
- Provide psychosocial support to patients through individual counseling and group work, maintaining the therapeutic milieu.
- Maintain awareness of DMH regulations and hospital policy and procedure regarding the use of seclusion and restraint, through supervision and instruction.
- Practice principles of safety, hope, and healing to provide a safe environment.
- Maintain and communicate knowledge of DMH, CMS, and JC and HIPAA standards to maintain standards of care.
- Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
- At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic, or medical facility.
- Six months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity.
- Ability to interact with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress and in stressful settings.
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
This is a part-time position, working 24 hours per week, with a second shift schedule from 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm. The successful candidate will be required to perform mandatory overtime.
Agency Mission:The Dr. Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center is a 60-bed inpatient psychiatric facility providing comprehensive, information, and timely forensic evaluations for individuals to determine pre-trial competency and/or criminal responsibility. We also provide quality, integrated care to support an individual's recovery process through ongoing psychiatric treatment and care.
