Job Title: Personal Care Specialist

Element Care is seeking a compassionate and skilled Personal Care Specialist to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our participants.

Job Summary:

The Personal Care Specialist will assist participants with all aspects of personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming. You will also assist with meals, including 1:1 feedings, and ensure that participants follow their diet and fluid restrictions. Additionally, you will assist with specimen collections, oxygen and vital sign monitoring, and report any medical complaints or changes to the primary nurse.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist participants with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Assist with meals, including 1:1 feedings, and ensure that participants follow their diet and fluid restrictions.
  • Assist with specimen collections, oxygen and vital sign monitoring.
  • Report any medical complaints or changes to the primary nurse.
  • Escort participants to medical appointments and other pertinent events.
  • Perform all tasks as indicated on daily assignment.
  • Restock supplies and maintain the cleanliness of exam rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and supply closets.
  • Sanitize tables, chairs, water cooler, exam tables, etc.
  • Assist with activities, special projects, and therapeutic 1:1.
  • Perform vital signs and transfers participants safely.
  • Complete required trainings timely and attend monthly meetings and trainings as required.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and attend CPR training as required.
  • Ability to pass a fit test. Position requires mask where seal is critical. Incumbent is required to not have facial hair that interferes with a tight seal of the respirator.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • HHA certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience with the geriatric population.
  • Ability to relate well to elders and anticipate their needs.
  • Ability to perform vital signs, lifting of participants for transfer, and communication of participant changes.
  • Effective communication, verbal and written.
  • Consistently works in a positive and cooperative manner with team.
  • Intermediate Microsoft computer skills preferred.
  • Frequent local travel.
