Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our team at TEKsystems. As a Data Center Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and decommission network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment, ensuring sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship on all projects and maintain Data Center cleanliness, adhering to production, safety, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to remove project obstacles and provide structured feedback on project progress.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation, and possess a broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies.
  • Perform field terminations, labeling, and cable testing, and possess skills in laying out MDF and IDF closets, dressing cables, and performing terminations.
  • Install ladder racking and seismic bracing, and possess basic understanding of copper and fiber cable testing and troubleshooting.
  • Operate DSX 5000 tester/OTDR Tester, program testers, and conduct service swaps of live networking devices.
  • Understand FIM database and operate scanners, and differentiate live cables from decom cable.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and use of basic telecom hand tools.
  • Clear understanding of job safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand floor plans.
  • Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring testing.
  • Ability to pull all types of low voltage cable.
  • Reports to Operations Manager and takes daily directions from Technician, Technician II, Lead Technicians, Senior Technicians, and Advance Senior Technicians.
  • Capable of maintaining orderly paperwork and running service jobs.
