Refrigeration Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine inspections of refrigeration systems, temperature logs, and ammonia detection alarms.
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs of equipment and perform scheduled maintenance repairs.
  • Diagnose problems, replace, or repair parts, test, and adjust equipment.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations with proper supervision.
  • Observe equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and/or safety issues/concerns.
  • Maintain inventory control on parts and supplies for refrigeration systems.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment and plant facilities.
  • Supervise/direct all refrigeration contractor tasks.
  • Adhere to all USDA and GMP product standards and guidelines.
  • Work shifts as assigned, including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with ammonia systems in industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Completion of an industrial maintenance training program and familiarity with ammonia systems desired.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues, communicate effectively, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to complete daily tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Familiarity with SPC, HACCP, GMP's, SSOP's, and USDA.
  • Familiarity with ISO process and procedures.
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical blueprints.
  • Must wear approved safety shoes.

Work Environment:

Work in a refrigerated warehouse with temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Fahrenheit to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

Work in a non-refrigerated warehouse with temperatures that range from 40 degrees Fahrenheit to 90+ degrees Fahrenheit.

Use calculators, computers, telephones, and other office equipment during normal workdays.

Use repetitive motions using upper and lower extremities, mount, and dismount equipment on a continual basis.

Will be subject to working on mechanical and stationary working platforms more than 40 ft.

Must be willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
