PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct maintenance, repairs, and servicing of County vehicles and machinery.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools to identify vehicle and equipment issues.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels and procure necessary parts and supplies.
  • Execute welding tasks and fabricate metal components for repair work.
  • Provide roadside assistance and perform repairs in various locations.
  • Compile maintenance reports and logs, entering relevant data into the department's system.
  • Investigate repair techniques and contribute to the training of fellow technicians.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and workspaces.
  • Support the operation, repair, and monitoring of County fuel stations.
  • Be available to assist with repair needs during emergency situations.
  • Educate operators on proper vehicle and equipment maintenance.
  • Carry out other related tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Technicians must supply their own hand and power tools.
  • Ability to interpret requests from operators and communicate effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and capacity to follow specific instructions.
Fleet Technician Levels:

Fleet Technician I

Requirements: High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience in automotive mechanics; valid Georgia driver's license.

Preferred: Vocational training in automotive mechanics; ASE automotive certifications; Georgia CDL license.

Fleet Technician II

Requirements: High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience in automotive mechanics; 4 ASE certifications; valid Georgia driver's license.

Preferred: Vocational training in automotive mechanics; Georgia CDL license.

Fleet Technician III

Requirements: High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in automotive mechanics; ASE Master Automotive Technician certification; valid Georgia driver's license.

Preferred: Vocational training in automotive mechanics; Georgia CDL license.

Fleet Technician IV

Requirements: High school diploma or GED; 5 years of experience in automotive mechanics; ASE Master Automotive Technician certification; 2 ASE Truck certifications; valid Georgia CDL.

Preferred: Vocational training in automotive mechanics or heavy equipment.
  • Verifiable industry or manufacturer-specific certifications may be considered in lieu of ASE Certifications.
  • ASE Certification required within 12 months of employment and must be maintained.
ADA COMPLIANCE
  • Tasks involve physically demanding work and sensory requirements.
  • Environmental factors may include exposure to adverse conditions.
