At StandardAero, we're committed to excellence in the aerospace industry. As a Calibration Specialist (Aviation), you'll play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, document, and implement methods for the verification and calibration of inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
  • Ensure continued compliance to standards of all inspection, measuring, and test equipment by performing the registration, identification, inspection, and calibration of all tools and instrumentation used by the company.
  • Recognize and understand flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
  • Be responsible for immediately reporting flight/product safety concerns.
  • Participate in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
  • Recognize and understand the Just Culture policy.
  • Register, maintain, calibrate/inspect, and apply identification markings to inspection equipment technical data and procedures.
  • Monitor and adjust calibration frequencies for optimal equipment performance and minimal downtime.
  • Designs and maintains calibration procedures for inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
  • Investigate and source qualified subcontractors for tooling which cannot be repaired or calibrated in-house.
  • Inspect, troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, modifies and aligns to original manufacture specifications, customer technical instruction or local engineering instructions, a variety of equipment ranging from common to unusually complex electronic and physical/dimensional TMDE.
  • Provide technical advice in the selection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and calibration of new and existing inspection, measuring, and test equipment.
  • Calibrate and certify a variety of (TMDE) Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment ranging from common to complex laboratory base reference standards. Perform verification and calibration on complex and intricate measuring and test equipment.
  • Maintain records and documents of all registered equipment, their calibration schedules and results traceable to the requirements of applicable standards.
  • Prepare calibration data reports, data sheets, and other required documentation.
  • Quarantine items found unserviceable, of poor quality, or those that cannot be maintained.
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements. PPE and procedures following established safety rules and regulations. Maintains tools and a safe and clean work environment. Reports immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned.
  • Subject to ITAR. US Citizenship required.
Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge of precision inspection, measuring, and test instruments and systems. Precision Measurement Equipment (PME), Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)
  • Ability to use the full complement of applicable company instructions, company processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of calibration and certification principles, root cause analysis principles, and application of calibration technical data principles in the field of Metrology.
  • Good planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral, and written communication skills.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.
  • Working knowledge of electronic systems and control instruments. Knowledge of circuit schematics, diagrams and detailed drawings to effectively calibrate and certify a variety of complex precision measurement equipment, instruments, and reference standards.
  • Ability to apply established techniques and methods of repair, testing, alignment and calibration of equipment. Able to use electronic circuits, transducer, pressure, torque, optics, flow, dimensional, hardness, vibration measuring equipment, etc. to measure parameters to determine the performance characteristics and accuracy of other instruments and test equipment.
  • Ability to use computers and metrology-based data collection systems to document, track and store data necessary for traceability, quality management requirements and third party laboratory certification requirements.
  • Able to maintain tools and a safe work environment. Able to understand and use Safety Data Sheets and PPE.
  • Working knowledge of Thermal and Fluid Flow principles.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.
  • Thorough understanding of Measurement Uncertainty.
  • Thorough knowledge of Statistical Techniques applicable to metrology.
  • College diploma in an engineering technology discipline; or equivalent.
  • Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience calibrating / adjusting electronic or physical / dimensional test and measurement equipment.
  • Desired Skill - Former Military PMEL / TMDE training. Familiarity within an ISO 17025 quality system laboratory.

  • Work Schedule - 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
