Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Welding Inspector to join our team at R.R.P. Consulting Engineers, L.L.C. as a Material Testing Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting fabrication inspections and observations of bridge components construction work to ensure compliance with client plans, specifications, and contract documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of bridge components construction work to verify compliance with client plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure contract compliance.
  • Prepare daily work reports and maintain documentation of contractor work performed, materials testing, and construction plans.
  • Provide documentation and support to assist in preparation of monthly estimates of work completed.
  • Assist with coordinating materials sampling and testing and verifying sufficient testing has been performed.
  • Perform sampling of concrete, soils, aggregate, and asphaltic materials in conformance with client specifications and procedures.
  • Prepare and document work item quantities accepted and approved for payment.
  • Keep supervisor fully informed of contractor activity and recommend acceptance or rejection of work items.
  • Coordinate with the contractor and project manager to identify and resolve construction issues.
  • Maintain positive public relations and verify contractor compliance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years of highway and bridge construction inspection experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in application of TxDOT Standard Specifications, construction standards, and construction documentation requirements and procedures.
  • Experience delivering TxDOT construction inspection.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Excellent construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Competent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Analytical mindset and ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering Harris County construction inspection.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) qualified and certified in conformance with the provisions of AWS QC1.
  • NDT Level II.
  • TXDOT construction inspection.
  • Site Manager experience.
