Job Overview

SUMMARY:

The role of Electrical Estimation Specialist offers a remarkable opportunity for professionals to assist clients in securing reliable and safe electric power solutions. We are looking for proactive individuals with expertise in electrical power systems across various voltage levels, ranging from 480V to 35kV.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the comprehensive physical design of projects, including one-line diagrams, equipment selection, and writing specifications.
  • Manage costs, schedules, and priorities for engineering design and equipment specification for electrical projects from 480V to 500 kV.
  • Conduct reviews and approvals of electrical equipment for use in systems.
  • Perform inspections and engineering assessments of electrical equipment.
  • Collaborate with external contractors, vendors, and engineers on design coordination.
  • Apply standard engineering principles and regulations effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and safety standards.
  • Prepare detailed engineering and construction cost estimates and timelines.
  • Provide regular updates to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Support the construction and commissioning of substations and related equipment.
  • Establish project scope, budget, and design methodologies.
  • Facilitate meetings with design teams and clients to ensure alignment.
  • Specify electrical components in accordance with industry standards.
  • Schedule subcontractor and material procurement to ensure timely installation.
  • Conduct site surveys for measurements and construction oversight.
  • Review project submissions and communicate necessary actions to vendors and contractors.
  • Prepare and review engineering reports addressing client concerns.

  • Interpret various engineering diagrams and construction plans.
  • Guide and evaluate team members' performance after project completion.
  • Identify training needs for engineers and field staff to bridge capability gaps.
  • Utilize technical resources to develop innovative solutions that enhance customer value.
  • Possess knowledge of electric distribution system design and project scheduling.
  • Prepare work scopes and cost analyses for power system studies and projects.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to enhance business development and project execution.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical estimation or construction.
  • Master electrician certification, associate's degree, or engineering degree; equivalent experience is acceptable.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to meet quality standards.
  • Thorough understanding of ANSI/IEEE, NFPA70E, and NEC standards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project sites.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various engineering disciplines and contractors.
  • Experience with contract documents and specifications.
  • Proficient in software applications such as MS Project and Trimble Estimation Software.
  • Strong business acumen to estimate and deliver profitable projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in EPC for electrical power systems.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management systems.
  • Ability to document and define processes for improved performance.
  • Experience in the construction of air-insulated substations at 35 kV and above.
  • Background in system studies and power quality analysis.
  • Experience in Electric Utility, Industrial, and consulting engineering settings.
  • Familiarity with high voltage substation EPC projects.
