Job Overview

High Side Technology is seeking a dedicated Software Configuration Management Engineer to play a crucial role in the seamless execution of software development initiatives. This individual will be responsible for overseeing version control systems, managing configuration items, and facilitating change management protocols. Furthermore, they will handle build and release management, maintain development environments, and implement Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. With an emphasis on quality assurance and thorough documentation, this role is vital in preserving the integrity and reliability of software configurations throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the organization and efficient management of software development projects, maintaining proper control of software artifacts throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Administer and sustain version control systems (e.g., Git) to monitor changes in source code, documentation, and other software artifacts, including branching, merging, and conflict resolution.
  • Develop, configure, and uphold build scripts and automation tools for compiling, building, and packaging software components for deployment, ensuring a smooth and error-free release process.
  • Define and maintain software configurations, including libraries, dependencies, and environment settings, ensuring consistency across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Implement and enforce change control processes to track and manage modifications to software artifacts, assessing the impact of changes and coordinating necessary approvals.
  • Establish and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, integration, and deployment processes, ensuring thorough testing of code changes prior to production deployment.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Manage external dependencies and libraries utilized in the software, ensuring they are up to date and addressing any compatibility or security concerns.
  • Collaborate with development, testing, and operations teams to plan and execute software releases, ensuring well-coordinated releases that minimize downtime.
  • Ensure compliance of software configurations with quality standards, industry best practices, and company policies, which may involve conducting audits and reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to configuration, build, and release processes, including investigating build failures and deployment challenges.
  • Implement security best practices to ensure software configurations meet security requirements and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Provide training and support to development teams on configuration management tools and processes, helping team members understand and adhere to best practices.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate tools and technologies to enhance configuration management tasks, developing and maintaining automation scripts to improve efficiency.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Top Secret/SCI security clearance or current Top Secret SSBI with TS/SCI eligibility is required; may require CI polygraph.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related scientific discipline is required (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience is required.

This position requires interaction with government customers at all levels of authority and technical expertise, necessitating effective communication of technical and programmatic information through excellent verbal and written skills.
