Senior Radar Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Radar/EW/EO/IR System Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our team, you will play a critical technical leadership role in fielding next-generation Navy Radar/EO/IR and Electronic Warfare systems and land-based sensor networks.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze live tactical sensor data to identify and solve problems that impact mission requirements
- Collaborate with teams of sensor engineers, software developers, combat system engineers, and physicists to develop novel algorithms and solutions
- Apply signal and data processing tools, including machine learning, to large data sets to develop novel algorithms
- Lead teams of radar, combat system, and missile engineers to develop and implement advanced sensor systems
- Advise and guide the strategic direction of analysis capabilities for our group and the programs it supports
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical field with at least 5 years of sensor systems engineering experience
- Strong understanding of radars and/or physics-based phenomena affecting radar or communications systems
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical field
- Experience with advanced DoD sensors and combat systems, particularly in the areas described above
- Experience leading technical teams
