Job Overview:


We are currently seeking a Full-Time Health Unit Coordinator (Ward Clerk) to support both weekday and weekend inpatient unit operations, including the intake of new patients. This position is full-time, non-exempt, and eligible for benefits. The compensation for this role ranges from $18.00 to $22.50 per hour, based on experience and departmental equity.


Responsibilities:


The Health Unit Coordinator I plays a crucial role in assisting the inpatient nursing staff by performing various clerical tasks and related duties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Answering telephone calls and relaying messages
  • Maintaining inventory of supplies
  • Copying and filing documents
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Running errands and completing other assigned tasks

Benefits:

  • The pay range for this position is $18.00/hr to $22.50/hr

Qualifications:


Preferred candidates will have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a health unit coordinator in an acute care environment. Knowledge of medical terminology is essential, and completion of a medical terminology course is desirable. Strong computer skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities are required.


This role demands meticulous attention to detail and focus, particularly in computer data entry, handling telephone communications, and compiling monthly statistics related to consultations and lab work. The ability to anticipate the needs of the unit, including managing admission packs, is crucial.
