Position Overview

General Summary

This role is situated within a Depot Level repair facility, focusing on the maintenance of various aircraft types. Experience with military aviation platforms is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute a comprehensive range of aircraft metal fabrication tasks, including disassembly, modification, repair, and reassembly of intricate metal components and systems, such as bulkheads, airframes, and fuel tanks. These components may feature both straight and curved edges, as well as complex geometries.
  • Assess and interpret structural damage to metal components; create patterns utilizing both parallel and radial line development techniques; fabricate, install, and repair a diverse array of items and systems from various metals, including stainless steel, aluminum, and magnesium; replace damaged sections and patch existing systems; manipulate metals into shapes with irregular angles and curves; employ various assembly methods, ensuring compliance with appearance and strength standards, as well as critical tolerances.
  • Utilize precision measurement tools, including calipers, protractors, and gauges, to ensure accuracy in all tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in aircraft metal fabrication is necessary.
  • An A&P license is not mandatory but is considered a plus.
  • Preferred background includes experience in military fixed-wing operations or civilian heavy structure environments.
  • Experience in heavy structure within the U.S. Military or related FAA or civil aviation sectors is beneficial.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, crawl, kneel, and bend on various surfaces for extended periods.
  • Capability to climb stairs, ramps, and ladders.
  • Must be able to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical strength, including lifting up to 44 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to identify small objects and read instruments is essential.
  • Effective communication skills are necessary for collaboration and safety.

Work Environment:

  • Work may be conducted in both indoor and outdoor settings, involving exposure to machinery and various environmental conditions.
  • Noise and vibration levels may vary, and conditions may include dust, fumes, and other substances.
  • Work may require irregular hours as needed.
