Education and Experience Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A minimum of 2 years of experience in sheet metal work or fabrication is necessary. A valid Driver's License is mandatory. Position Objective: The Sheet Metal Technician II operates under general supervision to safely layout, fabricate, and install components, equipment, and fabricated items on aircraft in accordance with established procedures. All tasks must align with company design specifications and quality standards, ensuring that completed work meets customer expectations.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
  1. Safely execute sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of components on aircraft under general supervision. Collaborate with supervision and inspection teams to ensure adherence to internal and FAA documentation, sign-offs, and quality standards.
  2. Interpret blueprints to cut and shape materials, following standard operating procedures for adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
  3. Utilize appropriate tools to shape and form complex angles and configurations according to blueprint specifications or verbal/written instructions.
  4. Operate shop equipment such as brakes, presses, riveting tools, shears, and hand tools related to sheet metal tasks. Employ the correct hardware for various sheet metal applications.
  5. Adhere to all safety, 5S, and housekeeping protocols. Use personal protective equipment as required. Ensure the protection of aircraft interiors.
  6. Participate in monthly 5S audits.
  7. Utilize the material tracking system to generate parts demand, monitor issues, and sign off on completed work.
  8. Contribute to initiatives aimed at meeting individual OGSM objectives, as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Engage in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., YIAW, Kaizen events, etc.).
  2. Properly use and maintain company-provided tools and equipment, returning items to the tool room after use.
  3. Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures when operating ground support equipment.
  4. Correctly collect and dispose of waste materials such as fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvent rags.
  5. Ensure accurate daily job reporting related to aircraft.
  6. Share job-related information and coordinate work activities between shifts through turnover report meetings and direct communication with leadership.
  7. Assist in maintaining shop equipment and associated Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Perform other assigned duties as required.Other Requirements:
  1. A solid understanding of sheet metal installation and fabrication processes (measuring, cutting, bending, forming, and drilling of aluminum sheet stock, angle, and honeycomb) is essential.
  2. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  3. A valid driver's license is required for operating towing and other Gulfstream transportation equipment.
  4. Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
  5. Capable of using tools and equipment associated with sheet metal installation and fabrication tasks.
  6. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
  7. A good working knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Office suite is necessary.
  8. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
