Job Title: Airport HVAC Technician II

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Airport HVAC Technician II to join our team at Salt Lake City Airport. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing journey-level skills on air conditioning and heating equipment, calibrating, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing pneumatic and electronic controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installs, monitors, repairs, and services chillers, boilers, and air-conditioners, ranging from 3 to 300 tons cooling capacity.
  • Installs, services, and repairs environmental control systems in all facility or plant buildings, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout.
  • Maintains and repairs air handler units, volume air ventilation boxes, thermostats, pneumatic control cabinets, refrigeration systems, gas-fired furnaces, evaporative coolers, electronic air cleaners, radiant heaters, heat reclaim units, and incinerators.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing filters and other components.
  • Collaborates with facility instrumentation and electrical personnel to ensure seamless operation of HVAC systems.
  • Reports to the Maintenance Coordinator and works closely with other team members to achieve departmental goals.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in the HVAC area, or three years of increasingly responsible HVAC experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of codes, standards, practices, materials, and methods used in HVAC maintenance.
  • Possession of EPA Type II Certification is required.
  • Possession of valid state driver's license or Utah driving privilege card. A commercial, Class B driver's license may be required.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days, afternoons, graveyards, weekends, and holidays.
  • Subject to call-out and ability to work standby, as scheduled.

Working Conditions:

This position requires moderately heavy physical activity, including pushing, pulling, or lifting heavy weights up to 100 pounds from 10%-15% of the work time. Difficult working positions may require standing, walking, or sitting in uncomfortable positions for extended periods and squatting or crawling into small spaces under and near operation equipment. High exposure to disagreeable elements such as dust, fumes, noise, dampness, cold heat, chemicals, or grease is expected.
