Position Overview:

Fidelity Investments is seeking a dedicated User Experience Researcher who is committed to enhancing digital experiences for employees. As part of the Digital Workplace Experience Chapter Area, your focus will be on prioritizing the end user, ensuring that we provide exceptional digital experiences for both our associates and clients. You will collaborate with fellow designers and researchers within the Digital Workplace Experience Chapter Area, aligning with a multidisciplinary team.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5-8 years of experience in UX or a related field is preferred.
  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience, Usability Engineering, Experimental Psychology, or equivalent education and training.
  • Experience in agile environments delivering value in digital products is preferred.
  • Background in the financial sector or similar industries is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in user-centered design research methodologies and rapid ideation techniques such as Lean XD, Design Sprints, and Agile methodologies.

Core Competencies:

  • Expertise in various qualitative and quantitative research methods, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, task analysis, contextual inquiries, ethnographic studies, and card sorting.
  • Ability to create, assess, and refine user models (personas, scenarios, profiles).
  • Capability to conduct heuristic evaluations, accessibility assessments, and usability testing, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Strong communication skills as a writer, presenter, and facilitator; comfortable engaging with both technical teams and executive leadership.
  • Experience in developing post-project executive summaries, retrospectives, and follow-up actions.
  • A solid understanding of web and mobile development principles.
  • Collaboration with other researchers and designers to identify and address customer challenges.
  • Skill in analyzing qualitative and quantitative feedback to identify recurring themes and support data-driven design decisions.
  • A persistent curiosity to explore underlying questions.

Responsibilities:

  • Define research initiatives and deliver business outcomes across multiple product teams with minimal oversight.
  • Plan, execute, and analyze user research studies, adapting them for both desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish and refine research objectives, ensuring alignment with strategic business and user goals.
  • Work closely with UX strategists, designers, and fellow researchers to provide research insights and support during workshops and ongoing UX activities.
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data from web analytics and user research to generate actionable recommendations at both project and portfolio levels.
  • Provide rapid prototyping support to communicate design concepts based on research findings.
  • Synthesize research data, summarize insights, and present findings to management and project teams for strategic and project-level insights.
  • Partner with product owners to inform product strategy.
  • Collaborate across the organization to ensure consistent customer experiences.
  • Contribute to the culture of the Digital Workplace Experience Chapter Area (user research & UXD).
  • Provide thought leadership in research and product development.
